Fall Fun

Today felt like the perfect fall day.  The sun was out, and the temperature was perfect...around 60 degrees.  We started the day out at a Build and Grow Clinic at Lowe's, where the kids made fire engines.  Rob came this time, so I didn't have to build two things myself.  If you are interested in this, please view the post about the Build and Grow Clinic.

We decided to go to the Fall Festival at Petitti's Garden Center.  It is located at 18941 Pearl Rd.  The festival is free, but they ask for donations.  There is a corn pit, an inflated haunted house, a fall back drop where you can take pictures, and crafts.

The Haunted House is their favorite activity...
They do, however, like the corn pit as well!

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5...the girls have always enjoyed this, epecially the haunted house!

Well, after this, we were feeling quite festive, so we decided to go apple picking.  We were going to try Mapleside, but they were having the Appleseed Festival there, so I decided to avoid it.  We went there in the past, and you pay to get in, so that you can pay to buy more stuff from them, and then you can also pay for the hay maze, etc.  Not worth it in my opinion.  Anyways, we went to Hillside Orchard to pick apples.  It is located 2397 Center Rd. in Hinckley.  It cost $19 for a bag of apples, and we picked a TON of apples.  The trees were not picked over and they were not all that tall, in fact, the girls were able to reach their own apples.  They had a blast.  We came home and made an apple pie AND applesauce, and barely made a dent in the bag.  I am thinking that we will be eating apples every day until the girls graduate.

                                          Posing with the loot...

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5-I wish I would have taken them before now.  This is the first time we picked apples and they were so excited to do it-especially since they were able to reach the apples!
