Well, we have had a busy week! Tomorrow, we are going to do the "mother of all playdates" and spend the entire day in Mansfield (blog to follow), so we are going to take it easy. I have the kids signed up for a summer reading program at our local library. They set a goal for themselves (I decided on each book they read as a goal) and the parent initials a sheet each time the goal is achieved. Once you have 15 initials, you take the form in and get a prize. So, we plan on doing that today. The kids have also been asking to go to the pool, so we will probably do that after the library.
I am going to post things that we have done in the past here, as most of these are probably things we won't get to this summer, or we have already done them and I didn't list them on the previous blog.
Great Lakes Science Center: The Great Lakes Science Center is located at 601 Erieside Ave. in Cleveland. Currently, prices are listed as follows: Adults: $14.84, ages 2-12: $12.72, and under 2: free. There is the Steamship William Mather to visit. This was a very long tour...the ship is huge, and probably not the best thing to take young children on. There are a lot of steps, many of which are narrow and can be difficult to carry children down. The cost is separate from admission. There is also an IMAX movie, the price of which is separate as well. Within the museum, most of it is indoors. There are many exhibits, and a polymer room for kids to play in. There is a large boat with a bunch of balls and tubes that will suck up the balls and shoot them out. There are large blocks, a huge connect-4 board, funhouse mirrors, slides, a musical area and computers. There is an outdoor area with a boat and a bunch of water tables. The website is www.greatscience.com.

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5....so, last year, we bought a groupon for $50 for a family pass for a year. We bought it in January and got one free parking pass (it costs $7 each time), and 2 free IMAX tickets. Additionally, we were allowed to bring 2 guests each time for free. We went 4 or 5 times I'd say...after the first time, it was not quite as fun if we went too soon after the previous time. For $50, we got to go an unlimited number of times in a year, which is probably what we would have spent to go once!
Rockin Robin's Amazone: Great for some indoor fun! Amazone is basically an indoor play area. There is a toddler playground for kids under 3 and also a bigger one for older kids. Kids under 3 can go on the larger one with a parent. Parents are free with their child. The nice thing about this place is that they will give your child a wrist band when you pay for admission. There is a number on it and they write it on a slip of paper and hand it to you. When you leave, you (and your child) can't get out until that is checked. There are arcade games, and laser tag. They have food there too. You are not permitted to bring in outside food. It is located at 2789 Medina Road in Medina, Oh. Be sure to look on groupon, since I just got 2 admissions for $8. Prices are as follows: under 3: $4, over 3: $8. The website is www.myamazone.com

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5...the kids have always enjoyed this. When we drive past it on Route 18, they are sure to point it out to let us know it is still there!
The Jump Yard: Another indoor place, and it is filled with inflatables! It is fun for kids and seems cleaner than most places like it. There are two areas for kids to jump in-one for little kids with a farm and city theme and another with larger things for kids. Again, adults can go in with kids for free. Socks are required, so be sure to bring them! There is an area for small children with toys, and a snack shop. The kids like it so much that we actually had Kaylee's 4th birthday here. The cost is-30 inches and under-free, 30-35 inches ($8/$10), and over 36 inches ($10/$12). It is less expensive on weekdays. It is located at 13700 York Rd. in North Royalton. Go to www.jumpyardcleveland.com for hours.

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5-the kids have always had a great time here! It is a good option if it is too hot out or raining in the summer, but also works well in the winter when the kids need to be doing something physical.
French Creek Nature Preserve: Yes, it is part of the Lorain County Metroparks. It is free. It is located at 4530 Colorado Ave. in Sheffield, Oh. The outdoor area is very pretty, but there is also an indoor playspace. We took the kids here once last summer and they really liked it. There are seats in the play area for parents. There is also an upper level to it that the kids had fun climbing into.

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5...the kids had fun here, and it was a nice break from the heat.
Drive-In: We try and go to a drive in every year. The kids have fun when we put down the seats, back into the parking spot and put down a bunch of blankets for them to lay on. There is one called the Auto-rama, and it is located in North Ridgeville at 33395 Lorain Rd. The website is www.autoramadrivein.com -so be sure to check for movies. The movies tend to start at 9:30, so it is difficult for younger kids to stay awake the whole time. If you decide to bring your own food, you have to buy a permit for $5 or $6. There is a concession stand with everything you can imagine, and it costs much less than at a movie theater.
Kaylee and Lindsey Rating: 5/5--always a good time. They don't always make it through the movie, but they still have fun!
