Crafting

Well, today were had planned the mother of all playdates--we were going to spend the day in Mansfield. Due to unforseen circumstances, the playdate is being rescheduled for the end of the month.

What to do....I wanted to come up with something, and wanted to come up with something fast... Several weeks ago, we were in a great toy store in Medina called Fundamentals. As I was buying birthday gifts, the owner of the store asked if I was a working mom. He said that in the summer, they have playdates there, and they are free. Luckily, I don't work in the summer, so I figured I would give it a try. Since I already had planned on the big Mansfield playdate, I was somewhat bummed out when I got the e-mail that the playdate was for today. If you sign up for their e-mail, they will e-mail you when they are having sales and when the playdates are. Today's playdate was from 11-12. Since our original plans fell through, we were able to go!  We were the first ones there. The kids got to choose from 4 crafts: putting decals on and painting drift cars, making an airplane, making a bottlecap necklace or painting a horse. My kids both chose the horse. As other kids came in, it became apparent that these playdates are popular. The kids painted their horses. Next, they got temporary tattoos and then they got to have juice and cookies for a snack. The store is like a child's fantasyland. There is an area set up like a castle that they can play in. There is a train table and blocks on tables for them to play with. They also have some toys out for them to "sample." The owner is extremely nice, and very good and patient with children. Currently, they have a sale: buy 2 get 1 free in the same category of toys. Most of their toys are educational. Fundamentals is located next to Miss Molly's Tea Room in Medina, at 140 West Washington St. #1.  The phone number is 330-722-8697.

got a "show" ribbon and a horse pencil.

Following our playdate, we headed over to Main St. Cupcakes, for a treat.  The girls both chose a chocolate cupcake, though they all looked delicious!  Main Street Cupcakes is located at 102 West Washington St. in Medina.  The website is www.mainstreetcupcakes.com.

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating for Fundamentals: 6/5--they had a wonderful time and were excited about everything from painting to the cookies.

Kaylee and Lindsey Rating for Main St. Cupcakes: 5/5--they obviously liked the cupcakes, but there is a lot of frosting on them, and Lindsey didn't want her frosting and Kaylee got so full from hers, she couldn't finish the cupcake!
