Upcoming Events

So that everyone has some notice, I will post things here as I see them, so that you have the opportunity to try them out if you are interested...

August 4...from 12:30-4:30, ride the miniature train (for free).  It is located at the Lester Rail Trail.  The address is 3654 Lester Rd. in Medina.  Be glad that I found and posted an address...they used to only give you GPS coordinates and this is not an easy place to find.  You can google Medina County Parks at www.medinacountyparks.com.  If you click on "programs and activities" on the left, it is under the NEOLS tab.  We have gone here a couple of times.  You basically straddle over a bench and go for a train ride that lasts about 10 minutes.  You have to hold onto your kids, so you probably realistically couldn't take more than 2 kids without another adult.  Also, make sure you get there closer to 12:30 than 4:30, as it tends to get crowded and, eventually, they will turn people away, which has happened to us before!  Usually, they have a Halloween train, but there are rules about costumes (can't be long) and the lines are extremely long.
The girls on the miniature railroad...

Dive In Movie: Located within the Hinckley Reservation of the Metroparks, the Dive-In Movie takes place at Ledge Pool.  We have never been able to go before, and won't be able to make it this year, but they are showing the Muppets on August 10th.  This is free, but for a fee, you can rent floats to watch from the pool!

Medina County Fair: The Medina County Fair takes place at the Medina Fairgrounds.  It starts this week.  You have to pay to get in-$2 per child and either $8 or $10 per adult (don't remember for sure).  You can google it to check the schedule.  There are animals, food and rides.  Rides are usually 2-3 tickets, or you can buy a wrist band, which is a better deal.  On Wednesday, it is kids day, and they can get a wrist band for $10.  They also get in for free before 5:00.
They also have a driving school where kids can drive cars through a town, and then get a certificate/license.  We have done this one time.  We tried last year, but just to warn you, most parents do not watch their kids while they play in here and they tend to steal the cars from other kids, hit, throw tantrums and not share.  I find this to be somewhat irritating, so I check it out before allowing my kids to play in there.

I will add more things to this page as they become available.  Unfortuantely, my summer vacation is limited now, and it is time to get back to reality.  There are tons of fall activities for kids, so I will post them, but only weekly.
